I am Mike, NO7RF and have been an active ham since 1970.  WB6WUI was my original call licensed in Lakeside California.  On February 15, 2013 I changed it to NO7RF as I moved to 7-land and upgraded to Amateur Extra in December, 2012.  I am now an avid Internet radio freak (No 7 RF) operating primarily on DMR (MotoTRBO).

I bought a home in Mazama, WA in 2007 and commuted between California and Washington for 2 years before living here full time.  I grew up and lived in California the since 1954.  I live in a small community of 150 people about 9 miles west of of the town of Winthrop (pop 800), closer to the smaller community of Mazama (pop 200'ish).  Mazama (98833) no longer has a post office, so my home address is in the Winthrop postal zone.

DOWNSIZING: I currently operate a few repeaters at low level sites in the Methow Valley.  I have several MotoTRBO DMR repeaters, with IPSC connections into the PNWDigital.net.  My old DCI Website - trbo.org documents our early day with MDR.

I am also very active in APRS and have a iGate/digipeater installed in Mazama as well as a number of trackers on APRS analog (144.39) and APRS digital (via DMR).

I do maintain a HF station but it is primarily for back-up comm out of the valley if the weather or fires cause disruption to normal infrastructure.  After 40 years of FM and a squelch control as well as MotoTRBO since 2008, my ear doesn't take well to the band noise so I am not very active on the "low bands".
